Premier League Betting Trends: Key Statistical Changes This Season

We are moving into the business end of the Premier League season now. All the early-season rust, the excuses of new signings taking a while to adjust, and other distractions should be fading away, and it becomes time to put up or shut up across the long winter period when the games come thick and fast.
For bettors, getting into the groove of the season is also important, not least for the fact that we can start getting some more useful statistics to shape our betting strategies. Those trends are important, as they can change from season to season. Indeed, there have been a few statistics that have caught our eye this season, and they can be highly useful for bettors.
Home Comforts Count in Football Betting
In last season’s Premier League, home teams had a 41% win record, whereas this season so far, it stands at 53%. That’s a significant change. Indeed, when looking at the betting odds at GSB Uganda site for upcoming Premier League games, we can see that there is a nudge towards favoring teams at home. Of course, home advantage does count regardless, but there is a little more emphasis on it this season.
Goals Scored Has Only Slight Variations
Last season, 57% of matches in the Premier League had over 2.5 goals. It’s broadly the same this season at 56%. Yet, one of the main differences has been in the 3.5 goals market, where only 28% of games this season have reached 4 goals or more. That’s down a fair bit on last season’s tally of 34%.
Goals per match sits at 2.74 this season, down from 2.93 last season. That essentially tells us that the games are a bit tighter this term. If the trend continues, it can be important to bear that in mind for over/unders bets.
More Shutouts So Far This Season
Both teams have scored in 51% of matches this season, which is down on the 57% recorded for last season. This is an important trend for betting, as it can be applied to the “team wins to nil” market. Arsenal, for example, have ‘won to nil’ seven times so far in the Premier League this season. Any bettors backing the Gunners’ mean defense to shine will have been handsomely rewarded so far in the campaign.
Corners Play An Interesting Role
A lot has been made of the focus on set-pieces this season in the Premier League, especially long throws and corners. The headline stats thus far are that 64% of matches have over 8.5 corners, 55% over 9.5, and 46% have 11 or more. Arsenal are the team that get the most corners, whereas Wolves tend to win the least.
But an interesting team to watch is Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side tends to both win AND concede a lot of corners, making them a good pick when you are betting on total corners in a game.
Some Notes of Caution to Finish
We are approaching a third of the way into the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, so it is possible that some of these statistics will even out eventually, getting closer to the averages from last season.
Nonetheless, there are signs that we are seeing tighter matches, more home wins, and more clean sheets than previous seasons, as well as more corners overall, although the latter feels a bit more tenuous. As ever, keep checking the data for your bets, and react to any changes in trends as they come across the season.
